I Hear Your Laughter

S Congress Ave Bridge, Austin, TX. Photo: Eugenio Saenz Jr.

I hear your laughter
City lamps that light me up
Thinking back I wonder where
At what point, love fell corrupt

I remember crossing that bridge
Roaming walkways for the best view
Where bats departed into the night
I found my heart and eyes on you

I sometimes wish I could turn back time
Like so many lovers sing in songs
Life is so fleeting we live only once
How without you can I ever be strong

I wish, I say, and wish over and over
Under that bridge we could be lovers
